Bury St Edmunds
The early years of the Lucas Family were closely linked to the Abbey of Saint Edmund and the West Suffolk town of Bury St Edmund.
Saint Edmund was the original patron saint of England, only being replaced by St George during the Crusades.
During it’s heyday the Abbey was one of the most important sites in the Christian Church.
It is thus fitting to outline the facts as well as the legends.
